'American Horror Story' starts Oct. 17th: To Be Invaded By Aliens and Nazis

(Via MTV Geek)

Some likely fake-outs and plot details emerge from the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly which features the FX series as the current cover story.

What's scarier--Nazis, aliens, a serial killer named Bloody Face who makes masks out of his victims' skin, or Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine making an appearance in the asylum-set second season of American Horror Story? The first season played around with its characters' hallucinations and fantasies, so I imagine that the Massachusetts mental institution setting of Briarcliff will provide fertile ground for a lot of fake-out horror this year.

EW also has a collection of character profiles for the second season, which takes place in the 60's and has many of the cast from the first season back in new roles. Besides Jessica Lange's sadistic nun Sister Jude, Zachary Quinto is back as psychiatrist Dr. Thredson who'll be butting heads with the twisted sister. James Cromwell joins the cast as Dr. Arden who may or may not be an ex-Nazi (we're sure to get some flashbacks there) and Big Love star Chloe Sevigny is also on board as Shelley, a nymphomaniac. Lily Rabe trades in her 20's socialite clothes for a habit as Sister Eunice and Joseph Fiennes will struggle with some inappropriate feelings as Monsignor Timothy O'Hara while Jenna Dewan Tatum and Adam Levine play a married couple visiting the institution. Finally, Evan Peters is back as Kit, a young man accused of murdering his wife who claims that he was abducted by aliens.

American Horror Story returns for a second season on October 17th.
