Monkey D. Luffy
“Straw Hat” Monkey D. Luffy is the founder and captain of the infamous Straw Hat Pirates. He is the son of Revolutionary Leader Monkey D. Dragon and the grandson of Marine Hero Monkey D. Garp. After eating the Gum-Gum Fruit, a Paramecia Devil Fruit, Luffy’s body gains elasticity. He becomes a Rubber Man, allowing for a creative fighting style. In his quest to become King of the Pirates, he must venture deep into the Grand Line and find the location of the treasure left behind by the late Pirate King Gol D. Roger. Luffy’s pursuit of One Piece results in clashes with rival pirate crews and the World Government, who have a 1.5 Billion Berry bounty on his head. This places him in The Worst Generation and at the top of the Eleven Supernovas. While his goal may be to find One Piece, his internal desire for adventure is the true motivation for his journey. His drive to become King of the Pirates isn’t out of an urge to rule, but rather the desire to have the most freedom in the world.
Roronoa Zoro
Roronoa Zoro is a swordsman and the first member to join The Straw Hat Pirates. Luffy intervened during his execution, saving him from a firing squad, leading to Zoro becoming his first shipmate. Prior to joining Luffy, he was a bounty hunter, which earned him the alias “Pirate Hunter.” Zoro’s dream to become the world’s greatest swordsman stems from a childhood promise to friend and rival, Kuina. The two made a pact that one of them would become the world’s best swordsman, but Kuina suffered a fatal mishap the next day. He keeps his vow and trains under Dracule Mihawk, the strongest swordsman in the world. Zoro practices the three-sword style in which he holds a sword in each hand along with a sword clenched in his teeth during battle. He is also part of The Worst Generation along with Luffy.

Nami’s uncanny ability to sense the slightest changes in weather, from the flow of the tide or feel of the wind, allows her to make quick, accurate weather predictions. Usopp gives her the Clima-Tact, a weapon with the power to manipulate weather. The Clima-Tact’s original use was intended for cheap party tricks, but with her expertise, she manipulated its functions to perform dangerous techniques. Nami utilizes the weapon to create mirages of herself or produce powerful thunder clouds. She was able to lure Zeus away from Big Mom by feeding it thunder clouds. Zeus accepted being Nami’s servant and is stored in the Clima-Tact.

Two years later, Sanji was working as a chef on the Orbit when it was attacked by a pirate named Zeff. A storm sunk both ships, but Zeff saved Sanji from drowning. Zeff became his adoptive father and opened the Baratie, an ocean-going restaurant, where he mentored Sanji in cooking and fighting. Luffy helps Sanji and Zeff during a battle at the Baratie. Sanji eventually joins Luffy on his quest so he can pursue his own dream of reaching the “All Blue,” a legendary sea and chef’s fantasy where many seas meet and contain every type of fish in the world.
